Chipped, worn, discoloured or misshapen teeth affect more than just appearance.
A tooth that changes shape can lose contact with the opposing jaw; broken edges can injure the tongue and cheek, and worn surfaces cause sensitivity.
A porcelain veneer is a custom-made shell placed over the tooth to correct its shape and colour. How much tooth structure is reduced depends on the type of veneer and the current condition of the tooth.
How is a veneer prepared?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. Once the tooth is prepared, an impression is taken and the veneer is custom-made in the laboratory. A temporary veneer is fitted in the meantime. Before the permanent veneer is bonded, the colour and fit are tried in; anything you are not happy with is corrected.
How does a porcelain veneer treatment progress?
The process depends on the number of teeth being veneered and their current condition. The steps below show the general flow.
